CAIRO — An Egyptian lawyer is trying to sue Israeli caretaker Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir for insulting Muslims and attacking their prophet, Mohammed.
Judge Safwat Ali Torrah said Sunday that he will issue a ruling on the suit next week.
Lawyer Ibrahim Okasha said he is seeking $2 million in damages and a three-year jail term for Shamir, whom he quoted as saying: “(Muslim) Egyptians do not keep promises like their Prophet Mohammed.”
