A tape-recorded conversation between a University of Iowa basketball recruiter and player Deon Thomas supported NCAA allegations that Thomas received a cash offer to play for Illinois, a newspaper reported.
Thomas discussed the offer in a telephone conversation in April of 1989 with Iowa assistant coach Bruce Pearl, who secretly recorded the comments and sent the tape to the NCAA, the Chicago Tribune reported.
