Tryout for Checkout Channel: Two Vons supermarkets will participate in a nationwide test of the Checkout Channel, which will broadcast news and commercials to shoppers waiting to pay for groceries. A three-month pilot phase of the system, a joint venture between Turner Broadcasting System and ActMedia, will debut in August to test consumer response.
