General Electric Co.: The Fairfield, Conn., conglomerate said second-quarter profit rose 12% to $1.1 billion from the year-ago period, marking its 15th consecutive quarter of double-digit earnings growth. Revenue totaled $14.4 billion, up 7%. The company cited improvements in its aircraft engines, GE Capital, power systems and medical systems units.
