George Steinbrenner sent the bulk of his evidence to Fay Vincent’s lawyers, starting the timetable for the baseball commissioner’s decision in the four-month investigation of the owner of the New York Yankees.
Vincent is investigating the relationship between Steinbrenner, former Yankee outfielder Dave Winfield and Howie Spira, a New Yorker who received $40,000 in checks from Steinbrenner.
Stephen E. Kaufman, Steinbrenner’s attorney, would not say what type of evidence was submitted.
