Rockwell Wins ‘Star Wars’ Contract

Rockwell International Corp. said it has won a $100-million “Star Wars” defense contract to develop a ground-based anti-satellite system. The two-year contract will be managed by the company’s Strategic Defense Center in Seal Beach.

The anti-satellite system will consist of ground-based rockets carrying small, lightweight missiles. The high-speed missiles destroy their targets by crashing into them at very high speeds.
