Congressmen File Friend-of-Court Brief: Fourteen members of Congress have filed a friend-of-the-court brief in support of a lawsuit against Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. by Frederick R. Weisman, a millionaire Los Angeles art collector and owner of an independent Maryland Toyota distributorship. Weisman is suing Toyota, which is attempting to take over Weisman’s Mid-Atlantic Toyota Distributors Inc. He alleged that a 1987 agreement abridges Mid-Atlantic’s First Amendment rights. Toyota denies the charge.
