Anti-Smoking Drive Funded

An anti-smoking campaign aimed at pregnant women, minorities, current smokers, women with young children and school dropouts under 19 will be conducted by the city’s Public Health Department.
City Directors were told Tuesday that the city’s yearlong program will be funded by a $199,237 Tobacco Control Program grant from the state Department of Health Services.
The state grant money comes from a 25-cent-per-pack tax on cigarettes passed by voters in November, 1988.
