LOCAL : Man Robs Bank in Palmdale

From Times staff and wire service reports

Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies and FBI agents were investigating a robbery that took place minutes after a Palmdale bank opened this morning, authorities said.

A man entered California Republic Bank in the 38400 block of Division Street at 9:06 a.m. and demanded money, saying he had a gun, authorities said. The robber stuffed an undisclosed amount of money into a pillowcase, then fled in a red pickup truck, FBI spokesman Fred Regan said.

The robber was described as white, long-haired, about 30 years old and wearing a green shirt, Regan said.

No one was hurt and it was not known whether he was armed or merely feigned having a weapon, deputies said.
