Harris’ attorneys will ask the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals for a rehearing before an 11-judge panel. If rejected, they then will appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court. Meanwhile, a stay blocking Harris’ execution remains in effect indefinitely. Attorneys say an execution before the end of the calendar year is unlikely.
