State May Produce Record Pistachio Crop

WASHINGTON — California, the main source of U.S. pistachios, is producing a record crop of the nuts this year, the Agriculture Department said.

Production was estimated at 115 million pounds, an in-shell weight, almost triple last year’s harvest and 22% more than the previous record of 94 million pounds in 1988.
