Pic ‘N’ Save Corp.: The Dominguez-based discount retailer reported a second-quarter loss of $9.3 million, contrasted with a net profit of $6.4 million in the same period a year ago. The current quarter included a one-time pretax accounting charge of $19 million for the recent contested proxy solicitation and restructuring program. Sales increased 11% to $112.7 million.
