Westinghouse Electric Corp.: The Pittsburgh-based conglomerate reported third-quarter profit of $255 million, up 8.5% from last year, on revenue of $3.18 billion, up 1.5% from the same quarter in 1989. The corporation noted substantial profit increases in broadcasting, boosted by the acquisition late last year of eight radio stations, and in energy and utility systems. Only the financial services division showed lower profits in this year’s third quarter.
