Castle & Cooke Inc.: The Los Angeles-based holding company for Dole Food Co. and Castle & Cooke Properties Inc. reported record third-quarter earnings of $44 million, up 88% from the 1989 period. Revenue totaled $879 million, up 15%. The results were attributed in part to the opening of markets in Eastern Europe, which increased demand for Dole products. The figures also reflect a $12.6-million after-tax charge, related to the restructuring of the company’s worldwide pineapple sourcing.
