Boeing Confirms 777 Launch: The company’s board of directors confirmed the launch of its much-touted $100-million, two-engine 777 jetliner. It said the long-haul airplane, parts of which will be manufactured in Japan, will be 30% to 40% more fuel-efficient than conventional aircraft. United Airlines has said it will take delivery of 34 Boeing 777 aircraft starting in 1994.
