Honduras to Fire Workers

TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras — The Honduran government will fire as many as 10,000 of its 60,000 state workers as part of a severe economic austerity plan launched in April, officials said Friday. The workers will be dismissed in January, 1991, in an attempt to reduce the Central American nation’s $117-million fiscal deficit, a government spokesman said.
