WORLD IN BRIEF : MEXICO : U.S. Tuna Dispute May Be Appealed

Mexico will take a tuna fishing dispute with the United States to a world trade organization if it is not resolved through direct negotiations, Commerce Secretary Jaime Serra Puche said. Mexico has asked for consultations on a U.S. court-ordered ban on imports of yellowfin tuna from Mexico because of excessive dolphin kills. Serra said that if talks do not work, his government will appeal to the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade.
