Cable Merger Confirmed: The backers of two proposed cable-TV channels devoted to covering live courtroom trials said they will merge into a single network set to launch next summer. The new channel will be called Courtroom Television Network and will be operated as a joint venture among Time Warner Inc., Cablevision Systems Corp. and NBC. The merged channel will be managed by American Lawyer LP, which is majority owned by Time Warner.
