NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue is standing by his recommendation to move the 1993 Super Bowl out of Arizona because of the furor over a paid holiday honoring slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King.
“They explained their point of view in terms of the electoral decision in Arizona,” Tagliabue said after meeting with a group of political leaders from the state.
Gov. Rose Mofford and Sen. Dennis DeConcini presented the case for a state where voters last month rejected ballot initiatives to honor King.
