Matthews Studio Equipment Posts Profit of $456,000

Matthews Studio Equipment Group in Burbank said its fiscal 1990 profit more than tripled from the previous year, to $456,000 from $138,000.

Matthews, a provider of equipment and services to the film and television industries, said the higher earnings came on a 36% jump in revenue, to $20 million in the year ended Sept. 30 from $14.7 million.

The company said most of the profit gain stemmed from the expansion of its Hollywood Rental Co. unit, which rents production equipment to the studios.
