THE GULF WAR: The Battle Front : GIANT VIPER

The Giant Viper, a British-made mine-clearing device, is designed to help allied troops cross Iraqi fortifications during a land assault. The device has never been tested in war.

How is works:

1. The Viper uses rockets to launch a 700-foot hose filled with plastic explosives over enemy minefields.

2. When the hose lands the charge is detonated, setting off the mines.

3. If the Viper works according to design, a 20-foot wide path is cleared, allowing soldiers and vehicles to pass through.
