AT&T; Continues Attempt to Take Over NCR: The communications giant has extended until April 30 its $6.12-billion hostile takeover offer for the nation’s fifth-largest computer maker. The takeover effort began in December, when New York-based AT&T; made a $90-a-share tender offer aimed directly at NCR shareholders. NCR’s board has rebuffed the bid by suing and has called for an investigation by federal regulators. NCR Chairman Charles Exley has said the company’s board would not agree to a sale at less than $125 a share.
