General Cinema Corp.: Improved business at movie theaters was cited for the firm’s $28.9 million in first-quarter profit, a 43% increase over that of the year-ago period. The Chestnut Hill, Mass.-based company reported revenue of $566.2 million, a 9% increase. The firm said its 60% share of the Neiman Marcus Group, a specialty retailer, also contributed to higher revenue.
