News Corp. Discussing Sale of Magazines: Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. Ltd. is in serious discussions with several bidders about the possible sale of its Murdoch Magazines unit, a company official said. The official declined to say who or how many bidders there were for the nine magazines, which include New York, Seventeen, Soap Opera Digest and Premiere. TV Guide is not among the magazines up for sale, he said. News Corp. is bound by terms of a recent agreement with bank lenders to trim its $8-billion debt over the next few years.
