Caterpillar Inc.: The Peoria, Ill., heavy equipment manufacturer reported a first-quarter loss of $32 million, contrasted with a profit of $99 million in the year-ago quarter. Revenue fell 9% to $2.68 billion. The company attributed much of the loss to costs associated with consolidating operations in its building construction products division.
