Armco Inc.: The steel company reported a net loss of $39.6 million for the first quarter, contrasted with net income of $12.9 million for the year-ago period. Sales declined 8% to $410.5 million from last year’s $445.9 million. The Parsippany, N.J.-based company cited the recession and steep declines in several of its major markets, particularly automotive.
