Mobil Doing Away With Cash Discount: Mobil Corp. said it will charge gasoline customers the same for credit and cash purchases, joining a new round of competition at the nation’s gas pumps. Mobil does not dictate the differential dealers charge for credit cards, but it generally has been 4 or 5 cents more per gallon. Chevron Corp. recently switched to one price. Texaco Inc. is testing such a system, and at least one other company is said to be considering the change.
