America West to Cut Fares: America West Airlines, in a bid to attract business travelers, announced cuts of 20% to 40% in unrestricted fares. The Phoenix-based carrier said it would cut fares on the “vast majority” of its flights to all 51 of its destinations in the continental United States. Business travelers’s schedules often prohibit them from taking advantage of discount fares with advance purchase restrictions.
