FundAmerica Fires 16 of 30 Employees: FundAmerica let go 16 of its 30 employees and said further employee reductions were possible. The beleaguered Irvine marketing firm is under pressure from a federal bankruptcy judge to find a buyer for its remaining assets, resume marketing or simply call it quits. FundAmerica--facing a criminal trial next month on charges it was run as a pyramid scheme--filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Aug. 17.
