Bristol-Myers Changes Ad Policy: Bristol-Myers Squibb Co....

From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Bristol-Myers Changes Ad Policy: Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. said it will clear all cancer drug advertisements and promotional pamphlets with the Food and Drug Administration for the next two years, following a dispute over a promotional brochure. The move comes after the FDA said last year that a publication called “Oncology Commentary,” which was sent to thousands of doctors by the pharmaceutical group, had the appearance of a medical journal. The company also said all recipients will be told of the promotional nature of the publication. New York-based Bristol-Myers produces a wide range of prescription and over-the-counter drugs as well as household goods.
