‘War’ Appeal: Paramount Pictures Corp. and composer Bob Cobert plan to appeal the verdict returned by a federal jury in Los Angeles that found Cobert stole the musical theme for ABC’s “Winds of War” miniseries. John Woodbridge, a history professor at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Illinois, filed the lawsuit alleging that Cobert copied his 1965 song “Sans Vous” (“Without You”) and earned $500,000. If the verdict stands, Woodbridge could claim an unspecified percentage of advertising revenues from ABC. He also has filed undetermined claims for damages and licensing fees.

“Winds” suit-- The jury for the plagiarism case involving the “Winds of War” musical theme found no violation by ABC, which was dismissed from the suit. A report in Wednesday’s Calendar based on a story from the Associated Press erroneously stated that John Woodbridge, who filed the suit, could claim an unspecified percentage from ABC.
