5,400 Gallons of Sewage Spill Into Bay

A break in a sewer line caused a 5,400-gallon sewage spill into the Sail Bay area of Mission Bay on Friday.
County health department workers posted signs warning of contamination along 1,000 feet of bayfront. The sewage overflowed a manhole at the intersection of Mission Boulevard and Reed Avenue in Pacific Beach and then flowed into a nearby storm drain that empties into the northwestern part of Sail Bay.
The signs will remain until tests show the water is safe for recreational use.
