Western Waste Acquires G.I. Industries: Gardena-based Western Waste Industries, which provides garbage collection, recycling and disposal services for industrial and residential customers in several states, will exchange 180,000 common shares and $300,000 in cash for the remaining shares of G.I. Industries, a 67-year-old waste collection company based in Simi Valley. G.I. Industries now serves more than 40,000 customers in Ventura and Los Angeles counties. Larger Western Waste has 300,000 residential and commercial customers in Southern California.
