Five women, a male companion and six farm workers were arrested Saturday in Valley Center after an anonymous caller reported prostitution allegedly taking place in a rural area near his home, authorities said.
Members of the vice detail of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report that prostitutes were working in a field near the corner of Vesper Road and Mac Tan Road in Valley Center, said Sgt. Steve Blackwood.
Undercover officers arrested five women they described as prostitutes and a man alleged to be their pimp--all Mexican nationals--as well as six farm workers, who were cited on various misdemeanor counts and released, Blackwood said.
Rene Landeros, 27, was booked into County Jail in Vista on suspicion of pandering, a felony. The five women arrested on the misdemeanor count of prostitution were released to the U.S. Border Patrol.
