“Hollywood,” as the critic John Simon once wrote, “is not a place, but a state of mindlessness.”

This is certainly the case when a Tinseltown Wunderkind like Cameron can claim, with all the seriousness a commercial gun for hire can muster, that “T2” is a heartfelt plea against violence and dehumanization.

When sheer absurdity reaches its apogee like this, one has to wonder what faraway planet Cameron and his ilk come from.
