It is appalling that the President calls for any trade with a government that makes its opposition to democracy so violently apparent. (“China’s Dirty Trade Secret,” by Jeff Greenwald and Kathi Kennedy, June 16). A country that trades with China is not a “kinder and gentler nation,” but a cynical oligarchy that keeps its dirty little trade secret by stuffing its people with a lust for profits--not freedom.
