Re “Cranston Alters Story About Keating Aid,” July 19:
Paragraph eight quotes Sen. Cranston: “I have never asked for nor accepted a contribution of any kind, whether political or charitable, when I thought the contribution was being offered in order to secure my assistance on any issue or because of any assistance I might provide. I did not believe that any of the contributions at issue here were given for that purpose.”
I respect Sen. Cranston’s career of good works. However, regarding the above quote, every kindergartner knows better.
