Columbia Pictures Denies Canton Talks: The entertainment concern described as “meaningless speculation” reports that it was courting Warner Bros. production chief Mark Canton, whose contract with Warner has about 16 months left. “We have not had nor would we have any discussions with Mr. Canton regarding his future services,” said a Columbia spokesman. Industry sources have said for months that Canton would follow Columbia Pictures Entertainment chief Peter Guber and independent producer Jon Peters, who previously left Warner for Columbia.
