NEWBURY PARK : Bridge Lowering Scheduled for Today

Late night party-goers and early birds were expected to have to take a detour off the Ventura Freeway through Newbury Park this morning when an overpass bridge at Borchard Road is to be lowered two feet.
About 14 crew workers and 40 100-ton jacks are needed to lower the bridge in half-inch increments. The project was scheduled to close the north- and southbound lanes of the Ventura Freeway between Wendy Drive and Borchard Road from midnight to 5 a.m. today. Traffic was to be rerouted to Hillcrest Drive.
