ABIDING LOVE: Recent events in the Soviet Union have solidified support for President Mikhail S. Gorbachev--in Orange County. . . . The Times Orange County Poll, which has tracked Gorby’s ratings here since 1989, now shows him with a 75% favorable rating, about the same as previous polls--and just a point behind President Bush. Gorbachev’s unfavorable ranking was 11%, with 14% “don’t knows.” He was liked better by people with high income than low income. Democrats and Republicans viewed him almost evenly.
