Sutherland Due Home

Reuters

Freed hostage Thomas M. Sutherland, whose return to the United States was delayed by a stomach ulcer, has recovered enough to fly home today, a U.S. military spokeswoman said Sunday.

Sutherland, 60, had been due to fly home to the United States last Thursday after his release by pro-Iranian captors in Beirut. However, after initially receiving a clean bill of health, the Scottish-born American suffered stomach pains, and doctors discovered he had a peptic ulcer.
