‘Suspicious Death’ of Man Is Probed

Authorities were investigating the “suspicious death” of a man whose body was found in a creek bed in the woods, sheriff’s deputies said Tuesday.

A passerby found the body Monday in a creek bed west of Interstate 5 between Christina Court and Georgia Sue Drive at 5:40 p.m., Sheriff’s Lt. Richard J. Olson said.

The man, who was 17 to 21 years old, appeared to have suffered “forced trauma to the head,” Olson said. He apparently had been dead for at least 18 hours before his body was found, Olson added.

The man, who carried no identification, may have been a migrant worker, Olson said.

An investigation is continuing, and an autopsy has been scheduled for today to determine the cause of death.
