Famed jurist Louis Brandeis wrote, “The greatest dangers to liberty lurk in insidious encroachment by men of zeal--well meaning, but without good understanding.”
The South Pasadena City Council “insidiously” upon the resignation of South Pasadena City Manager John Bernardi authorized a $155,000 severance pay (Times, Oct. 20).
Jesse James had a mask on when he robbed banks. The City Council robbed the taxpayers when they authorized the severance pay of $155,000 to Bernardi.
