Jack Daniel’s Owner to Buy Monterey Winery: Brown-Forman Corp. of Louisville, Ky., which produces Jack Daniel’s whiskey, said it will acquire the award-winning Jekel Vineyards of Monterey County, Calif. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Jekel produces about 50,000 cases a year of premium wine, most of it Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Riesling. Bill Jekel, the winery founder, will stay on to run the operation, Brown-Forman said. In addition to liquor and wine, Brown-Forman has lines of crystal, china and luggage.
