President Bush will drop his resistance to further extensions of unemployment benefits and propose or go along with a new emergency extension, the Washington Post reported. It said Administration officials reached an agreement in the face of threats from Democrats that Congress soon may act on the issue. Bush twice blocked or vetoed Democratic efforts last year to extend benefits for jobless Americans who had used their allotted 26 weeks. But in November the White House agreed to extend benefits for between 13 and 20 weeks.
