Nevada to Reject Tyson During Appeal

LAS VEGAS — There is no possibility Mike Tyson could be licensed to box in Nevada during any appeal of his Indianapolis rape conviction, a Nevada boxing official said Friday.

“I’ve talked to most of the commissioners about this, and there’s solid agreement that he couldn’t fight here again until all his legal problems are behind him,” said Chuck Minker, executive director of the Nevada Athletic Commission.

Tyson faces sentencing, probably in early April, after his conviction on three rape-related counts last week. However, Tyson could remain out of prison for as long as four years, if he chooses to appeal his case to the Indiana Supreme Court.
