Marchers Target President’s Policies

MANCHESTER, N. H. — Thousands of marchers protested President Bush’s policies on Haitian refugees and AIDS funding in demonstrations Saturday, and angry AIDS activists shattered a storefront window at Bush’s state campaign headquarters.
More than 2,000 Haitians and supporters who arrived in buses from Boston and New York marched through downtown Manchester to Bush-Quayle campaign headquarters. The office was closed. About 15,000 Haitians have been detained by the Coast Guard while trying to flee the strife-torn Caribbean nation.
A separate crowd of more than 600 marchers denounced Bush for not pushing for more AIDS funding and research. When the crowd reached Bush headquarters, it pushed against the window, breaking the glass.
