TAP TEST: UCI microbiologist Betty Olson hopes a Canadian scientist’s visit this week to UCI will spur local water agencies to help fund a $1-million study of illness linked to drinking tap water. . . . Pierre Payment of the University of Quebec has shown that people who drank tap water were sick 25% more than those who used a special filter on their faucets. Olson says more studies are needed, but the EPA can only provide $400,000 for the research.
