WORLD IN BRIEF : THAILAND : Candidate Denies U.S. Drug Charges

Thailand’s front-running candidate for prime minister, Narong Wongwan, issued an emotional challenge to the U.S. government to prove allegations that he is involved in drug trafficking. The State Department said in a statement earlier that Narong had been denied a U.S. visa because of suspected involvement in the drug trade. Narong denied the allegations at a news conference. “I and my family have done nothing involving drug trafficking,” Narong declared.
