A New Exhibit Blooms: This year’s crowning achievement for a Tustin-based amusement consulting partnership, AmeriFlora ‘92, opens Monday in Columbus, Ohio.

An 88-acre public park has been transformed into a $95-million themed exhibition that will be a combination world’s fair, flower exhibit and tribute to Christopher Columbus. It is being produced under the direction of Management Resources, the consulting firm formed by three former Walt Disney Co. executives.

Running through Oct. 12--Columbus Day--AmeriFlora ’92 is one of the largest celebrations of the 500th anniversary of Columbus’ voyage. It will feature garden displays, including 4,000 varieties of roses and hundreds of trees and shrubs. And there will be attractions like pavilions from more than a dozen nations, a giant complex for films and laser shows, and a youth entertainment center.

With the exception of a carousel, however, it will be a theme park without rides.
